2001: A Space Odyssey.

Right; let's see what the internet throws up at me tonight...

Movies, Sci-fi. hmmm. I feel for something good, like, with the epicness of star wars and the originality of ‘The hitchhikers’ guide to the galaxy’.

12 Monkeys? no. Casshern? no. Deep end? no, that sounds like porn. Cerberus? Wait, I've seen that before. It was shit.
OOOO! This one!

No, that’s a fake 8 legged freaks.

I KNOW! 2001: A Space Odyssey!

In a word: okay...

In 427 Words:

Ummm. Yeah.
Not quite as epic as star wars (I was a big star wars fan as a kid so shh) but it was one of the most original films I've seen, and for that I respect it.

Normally right now I would be explaining the story; but who ever write this film had an idea, wrote it down, had another idea and Rolled with one and a half ideas.
Believe me there is absolutely no point in watching the first hour or so. I see no point in it, other than to show off effects that they have, for example: zero gravity.

So Basically the second (and whole) idea consisted of A robot called HAL. I liked HAL, he reminded me of GLaDOS from 'Portal'. He also had a kind of Creepy charm to him. Well, it turns out said computer makes a mistake and the two astronauts on the same ship conspire to de-commition him in a sound proof vessel. To bad for them HAL can read lips and tries to kill them. He Kills one, but Dave fights on and, effectively, kills HAL.

From there on I have no idea what happened. I was watching but I don't get it. Wikipedia says it's a "stargate", but hell to that! It's just showing off weird 1968 effects - which I can now do on windows movie maker.

The first half of an idea was something about a man going to the moon where there was a supposed epidemic but that was just a cover up from a Large black block which made a horrible ear splitting noise.

Do not watch this film with headphones! I did and I think I might have to invest in some new ear drums. This film has the pieces of music I can only describe as: ba baa baaaaa DUN DUN! and ba ba ba ba do-do do-do. Some times, though I felt like slapping the sound man and saying: "NO MORE!"

The acting is all good, apart from the little girl, but i think I'll let her off from cuteness.

Believe me this film goes on for EVER! It refuses to go away, just like that guy. Yeah, that guy in a video game you think you've killed but he comes back. Yes I am talking about Alastor from Painkiller.

How many Parodies of this film are there?

Would have been better if (whbbi): It made sense. Can some one explain the meaning of the end to me please? And can some one explain what happened at the end?

  1. I've seen this film several times and read the book. Film was utterly boring and from what I remember the end supposed to say how insignificant annd lonely humanity is in the universe and the constant strive to discover. I hate saying this because it's so obvious, but the book explains it much better.
